- The carburettor flange is a sealing and connecting component positioned between the carburettor body and the engine’s intake manifold — in other words, it forms the transition between the carburettor and the engine.
- Its main function is to ensure an airtight and fuel-tight seal: it prevents unwanted air from entering the system or fuel from leaking out, ensuring that the air–fuel mixture supplied to the engine remains correct.
- If the flange becomes worn, damaged, or poorly installed, air leaks or fuel seepage may occur — which leads to an incorrect or unstable mixture, resulting in engine faults, loss of power, increased fuel consumption, or irregular running.
